At Butterfly Counseling Services, we recognize that military service can bring unique experiences, challenges, and strengths. Whether you are adjusting to civilian life, coping with trauma, managing anxiety or depression, or seeking support for personal growth, our goal is to provide compassionate, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive care that honors your service.
Every veteran’s story is different. These assessments are only one part of a comprehensive clinical evaluation and are always interpreted within the context of your personal experiences, military background, strengths, and treatment goals. Our therapists work collaboratively with you to ensure your care is individualized, respectful, and focused on helping you build resilience, improve emotional wellness, and achieve lasting healing.
At Butterfly Counseling Services, we are honored to support those who have served our country by providing a safe, supportive environment where healing, hope, and personal growth can flourish.
The PTSD Checklist for DSM-5 (PCL-5) is a standardized self-report questionnaire used to evaluate symptoms associated with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). This assessment helps identify how traumatic experiences may be affecting your daily life, relationships, sleep, mood, and overall functioning. It also serves as a valuable tool for monitoring progress throughout treatment.
The Life Events Checklist (LEC-5) is used to identify exposure to potentially traumatic events throughout a person’s lifetime. It provides important context regarding military, occupational, or personal experiences that may contribute to emotional distress or trauma-related symptoms, allowing your therapist to better understand your history and provide appropriate support.
The PHQ-9 is a widely recognized screening tool used to assess symptoms of depression. It helps identify concerns such as persistent sadness, loss of interest, changes in sleep or appetite, low energy, difficulty concentrating, and other symptoms that may be affecting your quality of life. The PHQ-9 also allows us to monitor changes in symptoms as treatment progresses.
The GAD-7 is a brief assessment used to screen for symptoms of anxiety. It evaluates concerns such as excessive worry, nervousness, restlessness, irritability, and difficulty relaxing. Understanding the severity of anxiety symptoms enables us to develop effective coping strategies and individualized treatment goals.
