Supporting Your Journey Toward Healing, Stability, and Success

Returning Citizen & Justice-Involved Mental Health Assessments

At Butterfly Counseling Services, we believe that every person deserves the opportunity to heal, grow, and move forward—regardless of their past. We understand that returning citizens and justice-involved individuals often face unique emotional, psychological, and social challenges as they transition into their communities. Our approach is rooted in compassion, dignity, trauma-informed care, and the belief that recovery and transformation are possible.

As part of your initial assessment, we use evidence-based screening tools to better understand your mental health, substance use history, past experiences, and overall well-being. These assessments help us develop an individualized treatment plan that addresses your unique strengths, challenges, and goals while supporting long-term wellness and successful community reintegration.

These assessments are only one part of our comprehensive evaluation process. Your therapist will consider your life experiences, personal strengths, goals, support systems, and current challenges to create a treatment plan that reflects your unique journey. We are committed to providing a respectful, judgment-free environment where you can build resilience, develop healthy coping skills, strengthen relationships, and confidently move toward a brighter future.

The PHQ-9 is a clinically validated screening tool used to assess symptoms of depression. It helps identify concerns such as persistent sadness, low energy, changes in sleep or appetite, difficulty concentrating, and loss of interest in daily activities. The results guide treatment planning and allow us to monitor progress throughout therapy.
